First Temper Tantrum

From such a sweet boy, this came as a surprise, but Jack threw his first real tantrum today when I took away my flat iron that he had been playing with. What's your funniest/ weirdest tantrum story?

New GIANT Picture Post!

So the mommy slump has eased. I attribute this to a few things.

I decided to make an extra effort to get us out of the house to try new things. Some of these things were kind of unexciting, like the field trip Jack and I took to Crawford, Texas, to see the place G.W.Bush spent some time. Here's a pic. I'm not exaggerating how boring this place was. Maybe I just didn't go to the cool part?

Other outings were somewhat more successful, like the trip north up the freeway to West, Texas, to go to Westfest, which I had been hearing about for years. It was a really hot day and not the coolest fair ever, but it was nice to see it finally. Plus as you can see in the picture, there were some cool costumes worn to commemorate the Czech heritage of the town's founders.

And Evan, Jack, and I have been making lots of trips to this little park that's about 5 minutes walking distance away from our house. It's nice to let Jack run around and burn off some energy. He's even started climbing benches! We were all pretty excited by that and lots of clapping ensued.

Also, Jack has been very cute in general lately. Well, cute and scampy. Here's a few pictures that show him up to his active scampyness around the house.

Tipping over the jogging stroller.

Pulling the hairdryer off the counter to play with it.

Playing in the laundry hamper.

I've also been being a little more active in my exercise pursuits. And finally, I got asked to be in a leadership position in the women's organization at church (Relief Society Secretary for all the Mormons reading). It's been really nice to get out of the house and talk to/work with the other ladies in the presidency and meet other ladies as well.

All in all it's been nice lately. And tonight we have a homecoming football game followed by a visit to the Waco Art fest tomorrow. Sweet!
