On the Eve of My 30th Birthday

So I'm about to turn 30. I guess it's kind of a big deal. Three decades old. Old. But actually, I don't feel too bad about it. Mostly, birthdays make me feel grateful. I'm grateful to have lived 30 years in some of the most prosperous times in history, in a free country, with a great family and lovely friends. Add to that a handsome hubby and an adorable baby, and it makes me think "Bring on 30 more years of this stuff - then maybe 30 more after that!"

Anywho...in addition to birthday musings, I'll admit that my Roll Call was somewhat of a failure. I appreciate everyone that commented, but with the exception of Becca outing her mom, I didn't find out about anyone new. Sigh.

In other news, I've relaunched my diet starting Jan 1. But I just ate a donut, two peanut butter cups, and two cookies. Yes, that's bad, but it's my birthday eve, so whatta ya gonna do about it? But as a whole, I have been eating more healthful and less-processed foods. So we'll see how that goes. I also claim exemption for my actual birthday.

No big plans for the day itself, as I am sick and so are Evan and Jack. I had to take Jack to the pediatrician today because he was sick with a fever of 102. Booooo. In the end it wasn't that big of a deal, but I guess it's better to be safe than sorry. The diagnosis was a possible ear infection following a virus that we all had/have, so I got a prescription of amoxicillin for him. Soooo that's a bummer, but the good news is that Jack is as cute as ever, and a cuddly 21 pounds at 6 months old.

I think we will end up treating ourselves to a nice dinner of some sort. Other than that, we're taking 30 pretty easy. Maybe that's part of being 30? No wild parties, etc.? Or maybe that's just us being boringish. Anywho...goodbye 29!

  2. Happy birthday, Mary!!!
I hadn't realized (ok: I'd forgotten - One forgets a lot as one ages.) you, too, were joining the ranks of the 30+. Bully!
The twenties and Trix are for kids. Welcome to ripeness.
Enjoy your big day. In fact, milk it for all it's worth.
    Love, Momila
And, in regard to your roll call, I don't think of it as lurking; YOU gave me your blog address. I look at it every month or two to see how you're doing. (It's not like you KIDS write LETTERS!) But, it is only very rarely that I can remember my password to leave a comment. Typically I write something brilliant, then it is lost & gone forever when I get booted off your site. :( And, please forgive me, but 'short & sweet' and 'less is more' are not me.
