I need help. I am stuck in a fashion vortex. I haven't really bought new clothes in a while. (Although I did score some great stuff at Ann Taylor Loft the other day in a bangin' post-Christmas sale. You might want to check if it's still going if it's your style).
So I need to find new jeans and clothes that are friendly to my new momish lifestyle. Lots of bending over, pumping, camouflaging my still-larger-than-ideal body.
But specifically, I need help with shoes. WHERE do I find cute shoes to run around and do errands in? And where do I find some good shoes for church that are cute, but not platform or stiletto heels, but yet not ballet flats or lame one-inch heels? What have been your go-to fashion items?
Help me out friends! I wear flip-flops or running shoes almost every day and I'm sick of it. As for church I always wear my same high-heeled sandals or high-heeled boots pretty much every Sunday. So come on, throw me something new.

I have no idea, but now I'm gonna have to check back to see whether any of your friends' comments have some good advice. I'm so glad that you had such great luck shopping the other day!
ReplyDeleteUmm, what's wrong with stilettos? haha, WORK IT! Seriously, now that you've HAD your baby, you can wear ANY shoe that you wore pre-pregnancy! (That's what I'm doing!) Look at all those hollywood mom's - they are still so stylish (ok, and they also have nannies AND thousands of dollars to spend on one-time-use clothing, but nonetheless, I still try to use them as a model...for shoes, atleast :P)
ReplyDeleteAs for clothing, I am JUST as lost as you are, honey! I know I wasn't the "ideal of style" while living in LA, but since then, I've TOTALLY reawakened my sense of style...only to find it CRUSHED by the realities of motherhood!:/ So I am eagerly awaiting what other commentors have to say on that front! Good luck!!
Have you checked Zappos.com for shoes? Added benefit of not having to drag the baby around a store! They also have free shipping both ways so if something doesn't fit it doesn't cost you anything to send it back. I love them because I can find really cute shoes for my gigantic feet (apparently everybody else thinks if you wear a size 12 shoe you must be an 80yr old nun).
ReplyDeleteAs for clothing, I am so lame. I picked up some acceptable stuff on the clearance rack at Old Navy. It's cuter than the sweats and tshirts I was wearing, but I just haven't been able to really invest in decent clothes when I'm not back at my happy weight. I will be checking back in comments to see what other people have to say though!
For shoes, I highly recommend Nine West Nuncio pumps. I practically live in them for work. I have a gazillion other pairs of shoes but end up wearing these everyday because they are so comfy and also cute. I have wide feet, so an extra plus is being able to order the W width.

I could have sworn that I commented earlier on this ...did I? You need to blog?
ReplyDeleteI think wedges are the key for moms...http://www1.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=338716&CategoryID=22433
YEAH!!! I made it to your blog...happy am I! Okay, so just last night I thought to myself (at the VT conference)... "Mary has such great style. I need to find out where she shops." But I can so relate to feeling in a fashion funk. Mine has lasted way too long.
ReplyDeleteThe wedge is nice, but I still fear a broken ankle whenever I wear them. I'm a bit of a klutz. I also love the shoe company Born...they have really comfortable/stylish shoes: http://shop.nordstrom.com/SR?bd=N&hn=Born&q=%22b+248+rn%22++and+suppresssearch%3a0&keyword=born&sort=4&initsearch=False&catname=in+All+Categories&viewAll=1&mediumthumbnail=N&origquery=+catid&searchorigin=KeywordSearch
ReplyDeleteFor jeans you gotta love the GAP 1969. I like these shirts: http://www.downeastbasics.com/tops.aspx
I'm not sure if you would want any of my advice though...I'm 4 kids behind in fashion. :)
